Advanced driver training in Essex is ideal as the county has a mix of urban and rural roads (both of which are used during our on-road training) and also the M25 and M11 essential for our motorway training part of the course!
Depending on your location in Essex, our advanced courses can take you as far north as Suffolk or Cambridgeshire or across to Hertfordshire. Some elements of urban driving may occur within the M25, although this is largely dependent on traffic. In Essex, driver training also takes place on A-roads such as the A12, A120 and A131. Some of the most challenging roads are fast-moving A-roads set in rural locations. Essex has a huge selection of these, which is great from a driver training point of view.
Our tutors have several routes to take drivers on for training, which maximise all the different roads available. These routes may change at times due to weather conditions, the specific nature of a driver training course, or the driver’s individual circumstances.
For all our bespoke driving courses in Essex, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:
Motorway training – The M25 sweeps the southwest of Essex, joining the M11 at junction 6 from Watford to the merging of the M14 at Cambridge. There are also many faster A roads, such as the A12 and the A120. Taking advanced driver training for motorway confidence can help with all issues concerning motorway and faster road driving, from being boxed in by lorries to entering and exiting and ensuring you are in the right lane for your exit junctions – we can help you. Motorways are statistically the safest routes to travel, but due to their high speed, they can be intimidating. We have helped many drivers feel confident and comfortable when using motorways in and around Essex.

Rural Roads – There are many super rural roads throughout Essex, which can be daunting, especially if you are more used to town driving. Many rural roads will be single-track, and many will have overtaking positions at the side of the road. Rural driving may involve reversing up single-lane routes, and you need to be able to do this safely at night on these minor roads, as many will not have street lighting, and roadside signage may be limited. Using driving systems like the ‘limit point’ will significantly improve your rural driving. We are able to produce safe and sound drivers across Essex and the surrounding areas. The A1060 from Chelmsford to Little Hallingbury, for example, is a great route for training in rural areas, as it features many small lanes to practice good driving skills. There are thousands of miles of rural roads in Essex.
Urban Training – The larger towns of Chelmsford and Colchester are ideal for learning about urban driving. There are always numerous new roads and junctions to navigate, and if you feel unsure about driving in busy environments or during rush hour, then our courses are ideal for you. Many town centres will have ring roads to get you across the area quickly, but if you are unsure of your destination, this can be worrying, and some folk will start to use public transport instead of driving. Our urban driver training will help you know what lane to be in when you come to big traffic junctions with many sets of traffic lights. We will help you remain cautious of other road users, pedestrians and cyclists, making you a better driver, especially when navigating a busy town centre.

Although our courses are bespoke to your needs, below are a number of things we often cover based on a driver’s ability, skill and what they want from a session:
* Reviewing a driver’s specific day-to-day driving and motoring history to create a bespoke training plan
* Developing a drivers powers of observation
* Understanding speed and creating a focus on excessive speed and its implications
* Changing attitude towards a safer way to drive
* Learning the System of Car Control
* Manoeuvres, reversing, driving in tight spaces such as car parks
* Motorway driving
* Urban driving
