We cover all of West Yorkshire and all of the UK – We come to you for the training:

We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals using our national network of DVSA-registered advanced driving instructors.

We have currently helped many businesses and private clients in this county alone, including those based in Halifax, Huddersfield, Rochdale and Leeds. In West Yorkshire, we have an excellent range of roads to provide advanced driver training on, including the M606, M1, A1(M) M62, and other roads – mainly A and B roads.

For all our bespoke driving courses in West Yorkshire, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:

Motorway training – West Yorkshire has three motorways, the M1 from Sheffield, M62 from Manchester, and the M621 encircling Leeds. Many issues can stop drivers from using these routes. The motorways are statistically the safest route of travel, but the higher speeds can make people very anxious. We can create a course in West Yorkshire covering all the motorways and faster A roads such as the A1 to the east of the county. Being able to enter and exit the motorways safely is an essential part of motorway driving. Being boxed in by large HGV lorries is also very worrying as you may not be able to see past them and miss your exit.

Rural Roads – West Yorkshire is one of the busiest counties with many large towns, but some beautiful rural areas surround them, especially south towards the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales to the north. Rural driving has many issues, and most severe accidents happen in these districts. Along with less signage and lines on the road, the weather can also cause severe problems, with storms bringing floods and tree damage that can cut off some villages for days. There is a thriving farming industry within these areas, which can sometimes make driving in rural settings quite challenging. You may be stuck behind slow farm vehicles, leaving mud or hay all over the lanes, and there is always the possibility of animals being on the loose. Knowing how to drive safely in rural settings will help you to deal with any issues you may have.

Urban Training – The larger urban areas in West Yorkshire, such as Huddersfield, Bradford, Leeds, and Wakefield, have extremely busy town centres and retail estates that can have routes with multiple lanes and lots of traffic calming systems. If you are unfamiliar with your journey, driving in busy towns and cities can be a little distressing for some, so you must be extra cautious with cyclists, pedestrians, and bus lanes. Urban driving can be slower, especially during rush hours, and you can become quite frustrated with other road users. Understanding and anticipating the actions of other drivers is a skill that our advanced driver training can help you with.

We tend to find a large proportion of companies that require advanced driver training in West Yorkshire do so due to an increasing level of accidents – which inevitably leads to high fleet insurance premiums and the awareness that they are putting themselves at risk as an organisation – something which is a real threat in light of the Corporate Manslaughter Act. Private clients in West Yorkshire come to us for a very wide range of reasons, including motorway confidence training, post-RTC courses, younger driver training and more.

During a session, we typically look at:

* Forward planning and observation
* Speed Awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, and planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions
