Advanced & Defensive Driving Courses Warrington

Warrington is becoming a popular location for our advanced driving courses. Located in between a network of motorways, busy urban roads, and quick access to rural roads make it a great location for an advanced driving course.

We cover this location + All of the UK – We come to you for the training

Whether you are a business client or a private individual – we have a number of specialist courses to increase the skill and safety of a driver. Our courses are available for car and van drivers.

* 3.5hr – Around 30% opt for this course. The benefits of this course are that it’s the cheapest, and is only 3.5hr, the disadvantages are that for some drivers it’s too short. Ideal mainly for companies training four or more drivers.

* 2 x 3.5hr – This is advantageous for customers that can’t drive for 7hrs and need the split to reflect. Often a driver gets homework on this session, so they can practice what has been taught in session 1 to help them with session 2. Older drivers often opt for this course.

* 7hr full day – Although it is hard work for some, a full day is cheaper than 2 x 3.5hr. It’s good for those who are time-poor. Maybe your company has asked you to do this course, or maybe you feel a 7hr will work better for you. Talk with us if you are unsure.

We understand not all drivers want a half, full or two half days. Some need or want longer. That is why we offer 3,4, and 5 x 3.5h sessions. These courses are often run over a few weeks and are mostly designed for drivers who have significant issues, such as a driving phobia, or need confidence training after a serious road traffic collision.

How we score a driver:

We score a driver in over 20 areas of driving both before and after a course, from Excellent to Poor, so you can see the areas of improvement, in what areas, along with handwritten notes from the tutor. Each driver taking the training will also be graded an overall road risk from low to high.

Remember – We build all our driving courses from scratch, and are built around your specific needs. This applies to both business and private customers, all over the UK.

For all our bespoke driving courses in Warrington, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:

Motorway training – Warrington is served by three motorways, the M6 to the east, the M62 to the north and the M56 to the south. These are very busy and fast motorway routes, and it is vital that motorway driving regulations are respected, as this can prevent many collisions from occurring. Motorway driving makes many drivers worry and avoid using them due to the faster speeds and the added lanes. They fear being boxed in by large lorries and missing their junction to exit, which can be disastrous, especially when drivers scoot across lanes at the last moment to get to their exit. Learning how to use the correct speed for entering and exiting junctions is an essential part of motorway driving. Staying calm and adopting good forward planning and advanced scanning techniques can make a significant difference to a driver’s confidence, skill and safety. These can be quickly learned with a little extra training, allowing direct and quick access to the rest of the UK. We have helped many drivers conquer their fear of motorway travel, from newly qualified drivers to drivers that need to use them for work, or perhaps have taken over the family driving after the loss or incapacity of the main driver.

Rural Roads – Within a few miles from the town centre, you will find many rural roads stretching across Lancashire and beyond. The A56 leading to minor B roads and villages in and around Warrington are particularly hazardous. It is young drivers and drivers who are unfamiliar with the location that often come to the most harm on rural roads. There are few speed cameras and minimal street lighting, so the temptation to take risks is higher than in urban or motorway driving. Rural driving has a set of challenges unlike other roads; for example, the possibility of loose animals around farming communities or horse riders and cyclists is far higher, and often narrow lanes will require the skill to reverse to allow oncoming vehicles without ending up in a covered ditch or damaging potholes. It is vital to have a good understanding of rural driving if you need to use them for work or leisure purposes.

Urban Training – Warrington is a highly populated and busy town between Manchester and Liverpool and carries a lot of through traffic on the surrounding motorways, often adding issues to the central town traffic if there are diversions. Urban driving requires good observations from all round mirror work and patience. Busy urban route accidents happen mainly around the traffic light and roundabout junctions, this has a lot to impatience and poor indications, so it is essential to learn how to anticipate the actions of other road users. This includes pedestrians, especially when alighting from a bus or cyclists on your left and motorbikes to your right. The ring road surrounding Warrington Centre, including the very busy Wilderspool Causeway, is littered with collision sites. The junction of Liverpool Road and Sankey St has seen some particularly severe collisions, which may have been avoided with more awareness, good indications and patience.

During a session, we typically look at the following:

* Forward planning and observation
* Speed Awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, and planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions
