For all our bespoke driving courses in Lincoln, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:
Motorway training – The M1 motorway is the closest major motorway to Lincoln and can be accessed via the A57 to the west through Worksop. Statistically, motorways are among the safest roads in the UK. However, their higher speeds, multiple lanes, and fast-moving traffic can be intimidating for some drivers, especially new drivers or those who have recently taken on driving responsibilities for their families. That said, with a little targeted training, motorway driving confidence can improve significantly in a short time.
At our training sessions, we focus on practical, advanced driving techniques, including commentary driving and the IPSGA system—Information, Position, Speed, Gear, and Acceleration. These methods help drivers become more aware, better prepared, and more in control. By using motorway junctions, we provide drivers with hands-on experience in safe entry and exit at speed, maintaining lane discipline, overtaking high-sided vehicles, and enhancing planning and observation. Once you’ve mastered these skills, motorway driving quickly becomes far less stressful—and far more manageable.

Rural Roads – Lincoln is situated in a very rural area, located between Sheffield and the east coast, with Mablethorpe and Skegness to the east. Driving in rural areas can be hazardous, especially during the winter months when many lanes become impassable due to flooding or tree falls, and in the summer months, the lanes can be congested with farming and tourist traffic. Because there are fewer warning signs, no street lighting, and hardly any speed cameras, there is a temptation to speed in these rural environments, and statistics show that it is young drivers who come to the most harm. There are several things to watch out for on country roads, including horse riders, cyclists, and the potential for loose animals, especially in farming areas. Still, good rural driver training can help you become a safer, more skilful driver in countryside settings.
Urban Training – Lincoln is a busy city and often experiences gridlock at certain times of the day, particularly on the A1434 and its adjoining routes into the city centre. There is a possibility of accidents when drivers are less observant and more impatient in urban areas, so it is vital that you are fully aware of your surroundings. Most accidents in urban areas tend to be around traffic light junctions and roundabouts, which can be due to driver impatience and poor signalling. Looking out for pedestrians and cyclists, being speed aware and perfecting your mirror and indication routines can drastically improve your urban driving confidence.
