Half or Full Day?

The half-day is ideal for those who have a large number of drivers to train and want to take advantage of the time and cost savings associated with such. The full-day course is ideal for drivers who want to experience an intensive, advanced driving course and really want to iron out any bad habits they may have.

We tend to find that many clients opt for the full-day session, booking one driver in the morning and one in the afternoon, with no additional charge for this.

When we train drivers, we design the course around their specific needs. We initially let them drive for a short period. Then, after a friendly debrief, we introduce a number of advanced driving techniques, such as planning, the system of car control, advanced observation, and more.

The main part of the course is designed to improve the driver, and we find the best approach here is to work on their specific driving style and requirements and adjust the training to fit with their needs.

We appreciate that you have a choice when it comes to driver training. Over the years, we have worked hard to ensure that we differentiate ourselves based on our service and the quality of our training. Training with us means you benefit from:

* One-to-one driver training
* Personal account management, a member of our team will get to know you and your specific needs
* National UK coverage – we come to you for the training
* Only the most dedicated, professional advanced driving tutors work with us
* All tutors are handpicked and are Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency registered
* Full reporting for each person taking our course, sent via email after the course

After the training, you will receive a full driving report, which will outline the driving standard both before and after the training. We measure a driver in 20+ key areas and score them either excellent, very good, good, adequate or poor. We do this at the start and the end so that you can see the improvement and identify areas for improvement. There will also be notes from the tutor.

This report (and course) will be completed by a professional DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency) registered advanced driving instructor. The tutors DVSA registration number will be recorded on this report. As you may have seen from our website, we come to you for the training, which takes place in your vehicle.

Remember – Each driving course is totally bespoke to your own specific needs and requirements. This applies to both our business and private client courses.

During a session, we will look at:

* Forward planning and observation
* Speed awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, and planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions

For all our bespoke driving courses in Leicester, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:

Motorway training – Leicester is served by the M1 motorway, located to the west of the town, and is linked via the A50 and A6. Motorway driving can be a source of worry for many drivers, especially those who do not use them regularly. Still, with extra training for motorway routes, they can become confident when using these fast roads. The higher speeds and the amount of traffic using the same roads are the most concerning, but understanding the regulations of motorway driving can make a significant difference to driver confidence. We have taught many drivers motorway confidence, from entering and exiting junctions at the correct speed, overtaking and changing lanes, and avoiding high-sided lorries for better forward vision. Motorway confidence can be essential if you wish to drive around the UK quickly and more directly than on more minor A roads.

Rural Roads
– Although Leicester is a bustling city, within a few miles, you can drive into some beautiful open countryside settings with many minor rural roads to navigate safely. However, rural roads can be particularly hazardous. For example, the Melton Road merging into the A607 in Melton Mowbray has seen numerous accidents, some of which have been very severe. This is similar to the A5199 at Welford Road. Rural driving presents its own set of challenges, distinct from motorway or urban driving, especially at certain times of the year when flooding, ice, or tree falls cause major issues. With fewer speed cameras, there is a temptation to speed in rural areas, and unfortunately, younger drivers tend to take these risks, often ending up in the most trouble. With very few warning signs, challenging roads, and no street lighting, rural accidents are common, largely due to poor observation, poor car control, and higher speeds. Many of these accidents can be avoided with some extra driver training.

Urban Training – The inner-city urban areas of Leicester can be very frustrating to drive, particularly in rush hour traffic. To drive safely and efficiently across urban routes requires excellent patience and good observation. The A563 ring road around Leicester features numerous junctions with traffic lights and roundabouts, and accidents have been reported in these areas. They may have been avoided with more patience, better planning, and observation. Although urban accidents tend to occur at lower speeds and are less severe, they can be very costly.
