For all our bespoke driving courses in Wolverhampton, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:

Motorway training – Wolverhampton has three nearby motorways, the M5, which links to the M6 and the M54 to the north of the city. Using these busy fast routes, we can create tailored motorway driving courses specifically for developing confidence on motorways. There are many reasons that drivers tend to avoid motorways where possible; the higher speeds and the extra lanes are the main reasons, but also entering and exiting on busy junctions is also a big worry. We use several techniques for training drivers, for example, IPSGA – information, planning, speed, gears and acceleration, and these can improve your observations, which will be very beneficial to help avoid potential dangers. Understanding the regulations of motorway driving is essential if you intend to use them regularly for work or family purposes. We have trained many drivers, from newly qualified drivers to mature drivers who want to brush up their driving skills, and thousands of company drivers to ensure that they are safe on the road and to potentially lower insurance claims with far fewer incidents.

Rural Roads – To the west and north of Wolverhampton are many rural roads which can be pretty hazardous for drivers unfamiliar with the area or driving too fast. The worse affected areas are the A41 and the A464, and the B4176 from Wombourne through Upper Aston and Stableford. New drivers and drivers unfamiliar with the area are the most at risk when driving rurally, so it is very important to understand how to use them safely. With fewer warning signs than usual, little streetlighting and minimal speed cameras, rural roads tend to be the ones that drivers will take the most risks with, resulting sadly in some very severe accidents. To drive safely on rural roads, you must be highly observant, especially on narrow and winding roads where oncoming vehicles can appear suddenly, and cyclists or horse riders may be using the lanes. Being able to slow down safely is essential. Rural roads are very pretty, especially in the summer months, but during winter months, they can be particularly dangerous with possible floods, ice, or tree falls, so understanding and planning your route is vital at such times.

Urban Training – Wolverhampton is a very busy city in the Midlands and has a large ring road surrounding the centre and has seen some very nasty accidents, especially around the roundabouts of the A41 and the A454, and Chapel Ash and Darlington Street. Patience is one of the main requirements of urban driving as the roads can be very congested, especially in rush hours, as most drivers hurry to their destination. Many urban accidents could have been avoided with more patience, and just a reasonable amount of advanced driver training, for most drivers, will reduce risks dramatically.

Remember – Each driving course is totally bespoke to your own specific needs and requirements. This applies to both our business and private client courses.
