Advanced & Defensive Driving Courses Surrey

We make high-quality, bespoke driver training convenient and easily accessible for customers in Surrey.

With a focus on exceptional quality, we provide a personal, one-to-one service supported by a talented team of professionals who love what they do. For driver training, we take the time to handpick the best tutors to ensure our customers receive the best training possible. Our flexibility means we can tailor a driving course to a customer’s specific needs.

Surrey tends to be a popular county for our advanced driving courses for both private customers and business clients. We have full UK coverage and will come to you for the training – anywhere in the UK.

We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals using our national network of DVSA-registered advanced driving instructors.

No two drivers are the same, which is why we have created a range of course options to fit your needs:

3.5hr – Mostly opted for by business customers when training a number of drivers back to back. It’s also open to private customers too who only need a shorter course. The 3.5hr course is our shortest course available.

3.5hr x 2 – If you don’t fancy a full day but want to cover more than a 3.5hr session, then this split course is great. The 2 sessions can be split over a few days or weeks. Sometimes we can run this course over 2 days.

7hr full day – Intensive in its nature. But is a great way to get the course done in one day. It’s certainly tiring but a great option for those pressed for time.

We have more specialist courses for drivers – 3,4,5 x 3.5hr courses. Mainly designed for private customers but also open to business clients for specific at-risk drivers.

Training Format:

We can offer driving courses in Surrey on a 2:1 basis, where one driver is trained in the morning for 3.5 hours and the other in the afternoon for 3.5 hours.  Alternatively, we can provide a full day (7-hour) session for one driver. Please contact us for a full quote. We have many tutors located in and around Surrey who can provide advanced driver training for business and private customers.

We can start a training session from a client’s office, although if required, we can start from another location (i.e. a home address). Some of our clients who are based in London are often taken out into Surrey due to the mix of rural and urban roads and the fact that unlike London you are not sat in traffic all the time!

Remember – All of our on-road driving courses are bespoke to your own needs. This relates to both business and private customers

For all our bespoke driving courses in Surrey, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:

Motorway training – Motorway training in Surrey is very popular for helping drivers overcome their worries when using faster routes. The M3 joins the M25 at Thorpe. This is an excellent route for getting to grips with all aspects of motorway training, from entering and exiting to better forward planning techniques that can help with seeing issues much earlier than you may be used to. From the M25 and on to the M23 at Horley, we can create a course that will encircle the fast routes, including the A3 through Guildford and Farnham. There are many reasons people are nervous when using motorways, the higher traffic, the speed of the motorways and the large HGV lorries that can box you in. Our training will help you use motorways with much more confidence and will show you how to cope with any situation that could happen when driving at speed.

Rural Roads – Surrey is a beautiful area to the southwest of London, and many locals and visitors to the area will have issues when driving rurally through the county. Rural driving is a skill that can be easily taught with a little extra training and is vital if you are not used to driving on single-track lanes or windy fast-moving rural roads. Unfortunately, younger drivers are most at risk when driving rurally. The Bagshot Road between Chobham and Guildford is a particularly hazardous route with many accidents –  we can use routes like these to train drivers in rural driving. The lack of street lighting, hardly any speed signs and dealing with farm vehicles that can leave mud on the road or the possibility of loose animals and these aspects of rural driving can be very dangerous if you are unfamiliar with such routes or don’t pay the required attention.

Urban Training – The largest towns in Surrey are Guildford and Farnham, and we have trained many drivers in urban driving. Busy town driving can be frustrating, especially with rush hours and diversions, and it always seems to be the busiest routes with road works. Advanced driver training can give you all the tools you need to navigate such areas. The centre of Guildford, for example, is encircled by the A246 and the A3100, and we have used these roads to help drivers find the best way to move through traffic confidently. Many extra precautions are needed when using busy town routes, such as looking out for cyclists and pedestrians and learning to anticipate the actions of other road users, including bus and taxi lane use.

During a session, we typically look at:

* Forward planning and observation
* Speed Awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions
