With our advanced driving courses, we aim to vary the roads where training is delivered – the typical split is usually between motorways, rural roads, and urban driving. We tend to find this provides the best learning environment possible – as opposed to just sticking with one road type.

Remember – All of our on-road driving courses are bespoke to your own needs. This relates to both business and private customers

During a session, we typically look at:

* Forward planning and observation
* Speed Awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions

Our courses do vary in structure, although we have a number of courses based on duration:

* 3.5hr session
* 7hr session
* 2 x 3.5hr sessions
* 3 x 3.5hr sessions
* 4 x 3.5r sessions
* 5 x 3.5hr sessions

Deciding to use us for your driver training needs comes with a number of advantages that include:

* One-to-one driver training
* Full UK coverage
* We only use DVSA-registered fleet/advanced driving instructors
* You have a personal account manager to arrange your courses and look after you before, during and after a course
* All training is bespoke to the driver’s needs and requirements
* Full reporting for each driver, which measures their driving before and after the training

For all our bespoke driving courses in Humberside, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:

Motorway training – Humberside contains two motorways, the M62 running across the north of the river Humber and the M180 south of the river. The M180 merges into the A180 and continues towards Grimsby, and the M62 merges into the A63 and the A1033 towards the coast and Withernsea. There are many reasons why people want to take motorway confidence courses, including help with knowing which lane to be in for your exit, avoiding being boxed in by lorries, and increasing confidence when driving at speed, as well as understanding smart motorway systems.

Rural Roads – Humberside is littered with many small and narrow rural roads, for example, the lanes between the M63 to the A1079 at Market Weighton and the roads from the Humber bridge and into Scunthorpe, many of which are used in rural road training with us if you’re in that area (plus many more). These rural roads are ideal for honing all aspects of driving, particularly in improving your spatial awareness and understanding the rules governing rural road driving. Rural roads are particularly challenging, especially in farming areas where there may be mud on the roads, animals loose, or tight, winding lanes. Although many of these roads in Humberside are very picturesque, they can also account for most accidents across the county, so you must know how to navigate them safely.

Urban Training – Hull is the largest town in Humberside, and the A1033 crosses just beside the city centre. From here, you can travel to Beverley. Urban driving requires the most vigilance, as it involves not only other vehicles on the road but also pedestrians and cyclists. Numerous new traffic calming measures are being implemented across Humberside, which will result in new routes and unfamiliar junctions that many may not be accustomed to. Confidence when driving in busy urban areas is a skill that can be developed with proper training. It can help you save fuel and increase your overall driving ability, too.
