Advanced & Defensive Driving Courses Derby
Our advanced and defensive driving courses in Derby are conducted by advanced driving instructors who are local to the area of Derby and who have a good knowledge of Derbyshire.
How We Are Different
Some time ago, we noticed that in a world where many things can be bespoke to your needs and arranged conveniently online, the driver training industry fell short. Despite the vital importance of improving road safety, it simply was not that easy to find high quality, bespoke driver training to cater for your own specific needs and requirements. This is where we come in.
We provide driver training for both business clients and private individuals, whether you are looking at a comprehensive training plan for many drivers or just a few, we can help you.
We cover Derby + All of the UK – We come to you for the training:
We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals, using our national network of DVSA registered advanced driving instructors.
We know the best roads to provide advanced driver training and routes that really provide a great learning environment for all drivers located in Derby.
Our training covers the following three road types:
Motorways – Advanced and defensive driver training on motorways looks at speed awareness, motorway rules, observation and helping drivers develop a positive and confident approach to these roads. From Derby, we head east to the M1 where we join from A52 usually. We head north on the M1 usually up towards the Chesterfield area. If we decide to use the M1 south, we go down towards the Leicester area.
Rural Roads – We always ensure rural roads are part of a training course. We can normally combine this after a motorway session. If we come off the M1 at Chesterfield, we can head back south to Derby on a range of rural roads through villages such as Wingerworth, Higham, Clay Cross and many more. Rural road training places a specific focus on forward planning and advanced car control, steering and effective use of gears. Rural roads can be challenging, our courses are designed to best equip a driver with the skills to remain safe on these roads.
Urban Roads – We use the centre of Derby for urban driver training, which focuses on developing an acute level of awareness in often slow-moving, frustrating traffic. We help drivers understand the impact of excessive speed and how to drive in a defensive way, whilst watching out for vulnerable road users such as cyclists. If traffic in the centre of Derby is too congested we sometimes move to slightly out of town areas like Allenton, Mickleover or Chaddesden. This is not set in stone and does vary depending on your preference and location.
Remember – All of our on-road driving courses are bespoke to your own needs. This relates to both business and private customers
During a session we typically look at:
* Forward planning and observation
* Speed awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions
Our bespoke training is what separates us from other training providers. The thought of a rigid tick box, one size fits all driving course fills us with dread. They’re uninspiring, boring and rarely get the most from a driver. We look at training the same way we look at our customers, whether business or private; each one is unique. Every driver is different with regards to driving, based on both internal and external elements. Internal elements are things such as personality type, attitudes, concentration. External elements are things such as years of driving experience, mileage covered, positive and negative experiences etc.
Our courses do alter in their delivery, although we have a number of courses based on time, these are outlined below:
* 3.5hr session
* 7hr session
* 2 x 3.5hr sessions
* 3 x 3.5hr sessions
* 4 x 3.5r sessions
* 5 x 3.5hr sessions.
All our courses are bespoke to the needs of the driver, whether that’s a session for one or 100+. As a result, we can provide a course, which best fit’s your needs. Please call us or use the contact form upper right for more information.
