Advanced & Defensive Driving Courses Burton Upon Trent.
Our advanced driving courses for both private and business clients in Burton-upon-Trent are designed to cover a wide range of roads, ensuring each driver receives the very best level of driver training possible.
Our courses cover urban driving, rural driving and also motorways.
The urban element usually takes place in the centre of Burton or nearby areas, such as Stapenhill, Horninglow, or wherever is most convenient, depending on the time of day and location.
The rural road training usually involves heading towards Derby or southwards to Litchfield, where there is a range of challenging roads that are perfect for rural training. Here, we introduce and develop a range of advanced driving techniques. Motorway training usually takes place on the M42 or M6.

For all our bespoke driving courses in Burton Upon Trent, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:
Motorway training – Burton Upon Trent is nestled in East Staffordshire and is served by the M1 to the west and the M6 to the east. The A50 links both motorways and is found via the A38. During an advanced driver training session, we will create a course to include all these motorways and fast-moving roads to help build confidence when driving on motorway systems. Many drivers will take a course because they have lost confidence due to experiencing problems on motorways or having never driven on motorways beforehand. Many things have changed with motorway driving in recent years. According to statistics, motorway travel is generally safer than rural or town driving; however, the speed and number of vehicles often make a motorway collision more severe. This is why many drivers avoid motorways when possible, but it is sometimes the sheer lack of practice that makes any motorway issue more significant than it needs to be.

Rural Roads – You only have to drive a few miles from Burton Upon Trent, and you will find yourself surrounded by beautiful countryside with thriving farming communities. The rural roads toward Rosliston and Netherseal have seen many serious accidents similar to those leading towards Needwood, with a few fatalities noted along this route. Driving in rural environments presents specific challenges, including slow-moving farm traffic that leaves mud and hay on the roads, as well as seasonal flooding and tree falls. It is crucial that you understand the best driving techniques, including forward planning and using the limit point on very winding roads, to be able to reverse safely when allowing another vehicle to pass on single-track lanes.
Urban Training – Although Burton upon Trent is a relatively small town, it is very busy, especially as it lies on the A38 between the Midlands and Derby, attracting a lot of traffic on the bypass to the west of the town. A few large junctions on the A38 feature significant roundabouts and multilane traffic light systems to navigate when driving into and across Burton-upon-Trent town centre. In these areas, we teach effective urban driving systems that help you understand the actions of other road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, and enable you to remain calm in frustratingly slow rush-hour traffic, where many collisions occur.
