Our advanced driving courses are designed to significantly improve the standard of driving of an individual, regardless of their level of experience. We can help coach drivers who drive 30,000+ miles a year who may have many years experience. Equally we also have a vast level of experience in helping drivers with limited driving experience, maybe they are newly qualified or are new to the UK.

Our courses take place on three main types of roads in and around Bath:

Urban Driving – Depending on your location in Bath, we spend a portion of the course in and around the centre, sometimes moving towards Newbridge, or Chelsea Road or similar depending on traffic.

Urban driver training in Bath places a real focus on speed awareness, cyclists, pedestrians and how to deal with traffic and various lanes.

Rural Driving – We always head out of the centre of Bath for rural training. Rural roads are dangerous compared to other roads due to the challenging nature of them. This is why a large proportion of our courses involve these types of roads. We often head south from Bath on the A367 towards Radstock, often heading off onto B and unclassified roads.

We sometimes continue to head south towards Shepton Mallet. The rural roads to Chippenham are probably the most challenging and so depending on location we can head out towards this area…Heading towards Chippenham also out us on a good route to join the M4 – ideal for motorway training…

Motorway Driving – Although relatively safe roads, they are fast and require good observation and planning. Our motorway training from Bath uses the M4. Following the rural element to the training where we often head north, we join the M4 usually at the A46/M4 junction near Dodington Ash, sometimes we head towards Bristol or east towards Swindon area. On occasions, we head south/south east for rural training, and pick up the M5 and head north back.  With motorway training we focus on planning and anticipation, and help the driver with the specific rules of motorways – essential when driving vans and larger vehicles.

During a session we typically look at:

* Forward planning and observation
* Speed awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions
