We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals, using our national network of DVSA-registered advanced driving instructors.
The format of training is often split on a 2:1 basis – so one driver can be trained in the morning for 3.5 hours, and another for the same period in the afternoon.
The 2:1 format is very popular due to the time and cost savings.

Motorway training – The M1 is the primary motorway serving Nottingham, linked via the A52 and A610. Using a route that encompasses these roads, we can create a tailored course to help alleviate motorway anxiety. Many people suffer from issues when using motorways due to the higher speeds and the extra lanes with heavy traffic, as well as being unconfident about entering and exiting the busy junctions. Younger drivers who have never used motorways, as well as those who now have to drive for the family or are taking on a new job role that involves driving further afield, are our typical customers seeking to gain motorway confidence. We also include motorway driving for business with many fleet drivers to ensure they are fully aware of motorway regulations and are safe on the road.
Rural Roads – The east of Nottingham is very rural, with many miles of open country roads, especially in the triangle between Newark-on-Trent, Market Deeping, and Melton Mowbray, which have seen many severe accidents, similar to the A38 between Belper and Chesterfield to the west. Rural driving has specific key points, such as learning how to read road furniture (signs and lines) to determine the appropriate speed when speed signs are few and far between, and the lack of street lighting on narrow, often single-track lanes. It is mainly drivers new to an area or young drivers who seem to be at the highest risk on rural roads; the temptation to speed in areas without speed cameras can be lethal. Learning advanced driving techniques for rural roads can be very beneficial. It can help with all other aspects of your driving by enabling you to scan the road for better observations and paying extra attention to other road users, including cyclists and pedestrians.
Urban Training – The urban ring roads surrounding the centre of Nottingham are extremely busy and are littered with accident sites. Although they may be less severe due to lower speeds, they can still create chaos, especially in heavy rush-hour traffic. For example, at the large urban roundabout junction intersecting the A52, the A6200 and Middleton and Clifton Boulevards, many accidents seen here may have been avoided with more patience and better observations. Understanding how to anticipate the actions of other road users is vital when travelling in urban situations, especially at busy junctions. Not every driver will indicate their intentions, and many drivers will take risks in small spaces when impatient, which is where silly accidents often occur. Advanced driving techniques will help any driver become more confident when using busy urban routes. In turn, this will help all other aspects of your driving when good observations and forward planning are essential.

* Understanding other road users and their intentions
All our driving courses are conducted by Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) fleet-registered ADIs (Approved Driving Instructors). All our tutors have a passion for road safety and teaching the latest driving techniques to drivers of all abilities in an easy-to-learn, informative, and enjoyable way.
After the training, you will receive a full driving report, which will outline the driving standard both before and after the training. We measure a driver in 25 key areas and score them either excellent, very good, good, adequate or poor. We do this at the start and the end so that you can see the improvement and identify areas for improvement. There will also be notes from the tutor. This report will be proof the driver has received professional driver training from a DVSA-registered advanced driving instructor. The tutors DVSA registration number will be recorded on this report.
