Herefordshire boasts an excellent range of roads, enabling us to offer a high level of advanced driver training to our clients. We have provided training for clients in Hereford, Kington, Ross-on-Wye and other areas in the county.

We cover Herefordshire + All of the UK – We come to you for the training:

Our training covers a range of roads, including the M50, A49, A466, and A4137 (one of the most dangerous roads in the UK), as well as various other roads. The rural nature of Herefordshire means advanced driver training is of vital importance for drivers.

Rural roads are where, sadly, most fatal car collisions occur.  During our advanced driving course, we can venture out into Mid Wales on a range of roads. Sometimes we can head north into Shropshire or south towards South Wales.

During driver training in Herefordshire, we typically look at:

* Forward planning and observation

* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids

For all our bespoke driving courses in Herefordshire, we provide training on a range of roads and different areas, which can include:

Motorway training – Hereford is a picturesque county situated above Gloucestershire and borders Wales to the west. The only motorway dedicated to Herefordshire is the M50 from Rudhall, which links to the M5 at Upper Strensham. We use these routes when undertaking advanced driver motorway training for drivers based across Herefordshire. There are many reasons drivers fear motorway driving, mainly due to the increased traffic and the high speeds at which they travel. We teach several car control systems from IPSGA (Information, planning, speed, gear, accelerate) and other advanced driver techniques to help you feel confident and safe when using motorways for travel. We use other, faster dual-carriageway routes around Hereford, such as the A49 from Ross-on-Wye to Ludlow and the A4103 directly to Worcester. We can create a course tailored to your needs. For new drivers and those who have not used motorways frequently and have lost confidence, we can ensure you understand all the regulations of motorway driving, so you can use them worry-free.

Rural Roads – Hereford is a very rural county, containing many minor roads and lanes. Driving in rural settings can be stressful if you are not used to them. Rural roads are often single-track, winding, and can be hazardous at certain times of the year, depending on the weather. According to statistics, rural roads are by far the most dangerous routes to travel; many drivers speed in rural areas, knowing there are fewer speed cameras. The A4110 from Hereford to Leintwardine is a particularly hazardous route, with a high incidence of accidents, similar to the B4348 from Hereford to Hay-on-Wye and the A4137 – one of the most deadly roads in the UK. We can help you to become more confident when driving in rural areas, from understanding the ‘Limit Point’, a system of car control to help when driving on winding roads and helping with your forward planning observations.

Urban Training – the largest town in Herefordshire is Hereford, followed by Leominster and Ross on Wye. Urban driving often comes with frustration, especially during rush hour traffic, and numerous accidents occur each week in busy urban areas. Although the accidents tend not to be serious, they are mainly the result of impatience and are at lower speeds. Knowing how to drive safely in urban surroundings is vital. We can help you understand many things, like one-way systems, ring roads, large urban traffic junctions, and roundabouts. If we take Hereford as an example, we will use a wide range of roads, including Victoria Street and Edgar Street to the west of the city centre and bringing you into the centre and the one-way system. We will also assist with parking on busy streets and demonstrate how to anticipate the actions of pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users. Urban driver training will significantly impact your confidence and safety, so if you struggle with these areas, then extra training can make a world of difference.
