Lichfield is quite a new area where we provide advanced and defensive driving courses. Having provided courses in Birmingham since 2003 we have expanded now to more nearby towns and cities. We have around 15 tutors within a 10 mile radius of Lichfield.
We cover this location + All of the UK – We come to you for the training:
We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals, using our national network of DVSA registered advanced driving instructors.
We can help both private and business customers. Our courses are designed for maximum benefit and so cover training on the following roads:
Urban Roads – We provide urban training in Lichfield or sometimes in Birmingham. Urban training is designed to help improve a drivers skill at driving in slower, densely populated driving environments.
Rural Roads – Heading out of Lichfield we often use the A38 to head North East towards Burton Upon Trent. We divert off onto rural B and unclassified roads to ensure a diverse training session.
Quite often we head off towards Barton-Under-Needworrd on the B5016, which is considered challenging and provides the perfect environment to train drivers. We do sometimes head south, and rural training can sometimes take place south of Birmingham, especially if we have provided urban training in Birmingham.
Motorways – The M6 is our first choice for motorway training if you are located in Lichfield. We work on improving a drivers confidence and attention, and helping them achieve a higher level of safety on these roads.
We often get onto the M6 after the Toll Road and then head west and then merge onto the M5. If we have been driving in and around Birmingham however, we may catch the M5 north bound and head back on the M6. As traffic is often so bad on the M5/M6 in and around Birmingham we may change the route to ensure we are not sat in stand still traffic!
During a session we typically look at:
* Forward planning and observation
* Speed awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions
