We offer advanced and defensive driving courses for companies and private clients in and around Greenwich for a number of years now. A number of our clients are large operators who have in excess of 3,000 vans and cars. Others have less than 5. Although Greenwich is in a highly urbanised area, we ensure that all delegates taking our course have a wider range of training as possible.
We cover this location + All of the UK – We come to you for the training:
We provide bespoke advanced/defensive driver training to companies and private individuals, using our national network of DVSA registered advanced driving instructors.
Our training from Greenwich covers:
Urban – No surprises here. With London traffic the exact location for the urban training element does vary as the last thing we want is to be stuck in traffic all the time.
Usually urban driver training forms the start of the training, whether it be a full or half day. Depending on your location in Greenwich we use a range of route and roads including Blackheath Hill, Woolwich Road, Greenwich High Road and many more.
We ensure we help drivers get a better understanding of the essentials of urban driving, and the hazards associated with such (which is often their own vehicle!), to observe and plan for cyclists, deal with various bus and taxi lanes, and how to ensure they obey the lower speed limits, which are often 20 MPH zones.
Rural Driving – We do try and take the time to head out of Greenwich for rural training. Rural roads are challenging and often fast – something a lethal combination, especially in poor weather.
We often head out on the A21 southbound towards Bromley, and across to Orpington in Kent. We then have a range of rural roads to work on steering, observation, car control and general safety and awareness on these roads. We cover skid control theory and introduce advanced techniques like the limit point.
Motorway Driving – If we finish rural training in Orpington we can quickly pick up the M25 and head either clockwise or anti-clockwise. With motorway training we focus on space management, key motorway hints and tips, and how to stay safe on these roads. Motorways are safe roads compared to rural roads. However, complacency and boredom are all to common!
During a session we typically look at:
* Forward planning and observation
* Speed awareness
* Developing a positive attitude towards safer driving
* How to become a safer driver on all roads
* Car or van control (gears, steering, foot controls, signals)
* Rules of the road
* Dealing with road rage
* Reversing and manoeuvres
* Dealing with adverse weather
* Town and urban defensive driving
* Driving in heavy traffic and allowing adequate space
* Skid control theory and learning what causes skids
* Eco-safe driving (effective use of speed, gears, planning)
* Anticipation – Learning to see and not just look
* Understanding other road users and their intentions
After each course a driver gets a full driving report. Please contact us for more info.
