COMPETITION
DRIVING/ TRACK DRIVING
In
a survey, over 30% of people would like to take up motorsport as
a hobby - only 1% will ever live their dream.
Lets face
it, the closest most people get to motorsport, is ordering the
Sports Pack on their company car! If you want to get closer
to the real action our Motorsport section offers
lots of free information for newcomers and also the amateur competitor.
Are you
serious about being more than just another track day participant?
We offer professional race and rally driver training with professional
race/rally drivers. Email us for more info
or visit our Thruxton page here.
Perhaps
you have a passion for speed but are a bit too old to be a boyracer.
Maybe you have a dream about buying that classic sports car you
have always wanted. Whatever your motivation is to go racing, remember
it can be as expensive or as cheap as you want (within reason!)
A typical
World Rally Team spends around £60m a year to run a whole
rally team. Even novice rally drivers can spend over £20,000
a year.
For many
of us, motor sport and track driving is a distant dream mainly due
to the cost. Motor sport and track driving is not cheap (especially
if you crash!). Drivers Domain UK - Motorsport
is dedicated to helping you take any interest that one stage further.
You will be surprised how starting out in motor sport or simply
attending track days can be a great deal cheaper than you may think!
The very
first thing to do if you are serious about getting on the motorsport
ladder is to surf around this section; it has plenty of information
to get you started.
The main
things you need to consider before you decide which area of motor
sport you wish to compete in are your financial resources, knowledge
of cars, and time you have to give. For example, hill climbing can
be done in a near-standard car, is usually cheap and generally does
not involve a great deal of your time other than at weekend meetings.
You don’t need to be an F1 mechanic either! Whereas special
stage rallying can be very expensive (especially if you crash);
you will also need a willing co-driver and a good knowledge of rally
cars unless, that is, you are willing to pay for a team of mechanics!
