| What
we teach you?
On
the day.
After
meeting your tutor they will check all your details before getting
things underway.
The
Initial drive –
Your tutor will spend around 30 minutes assessing your driving.
This will help them see what sort of driver
you are, and pick up on any minor faults. All faults and
observations will be recorded on one of our marking sheets.
Our marking
sheets will record how you performed on the initial drive and also
what standard you go up to at the end of the course. The marking
sheet allows your tutor to assess and help you improve areas of
your driving such as:
Observation,
Awareness, Anticipation, Car Control, Attitude, Car Sympathy, Positioning,
Use of Mirrors, Accelerator sense, Steering Control, Driver Confidence
and much more.
Apart
from becoming a safer driver, you will also save up to 20% on your
fuel bills. Increased forward planning will mean fewer wasted gear
changes, and less last minute braking - which greatly help towards
reduced fuel costs. Developing a better understanding of accelerator
sense will also help drive down your fuel costs.
The
Initial brief –
Once the initial drive is complete, your tutor will go over what
they thought of your initial drive, and this will form the learning
background for the rest of the day.
Main
part of course –
Once the coaching begins, you will be driving on a range of roads
ranging from motorways, dual carriageways, and both town and rural
roads. During this section of the course you will be introduced
to a range of advanced driving techniques, aimed at making you safer
and more skilled on the roads.
A great
deal of focus is placed on forward planning, anticipation and observation
which you will learn to apply on all sorts of roads and situations.
You will also learn how best to handle your
car, taking into consideration road surface and type, weather
conditions, and a range of constantly changing variables. During
the course there will be plenty of time to take brakes and reflect
on how your training is going.
Debrief
(Driving Report Course)–
At the end of the course, your tutor will reflect on how your driving
was when you started out that day, and how it has developed since.
They will highlight areas where you excelled and also areas which
you will need to continue to work on - now that you have learnt
the necessary techniques. After the course you will receive a report
on your driving sent via email.
